Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator, who works with NBC News in Washington D.C., is a television anchor. She received a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing to be a part of New York City. Mitchell began her professional career as a journalist for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. 1976 Mitchell joined WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). She was hired by NBC News Washington two years following that as general reporter. 1981 she started covering at the White House, and in 1988 was named chief congressional correspondent. She was made the chief White House correspondent by NBC News in 1992. Mitchell was a guest on the TV news program Meet the Press as a host and panelist. Mitchell was a panelist in the presidential debates in 1988 with George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was presented with the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government for excellence in journalism. In 2004, The Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was a reporter at for the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, between the terms of Ronald Reagan's second term as president. Mitchell covered a wide range of noteworthy stories, such as the Iran-Contra scandal as well as the tax reforms to the budget and the arms control. She traveled together with Ronald Reagan several times to summits and debate topics such as and the Iran Contra controversy.
